Evaluation of the used CADISON licenses:
The SENTINEL license service logs by themselves all license requests. With the following instructions you can write this log to a file, which can be used for later analysis.
Windows system environment variable :
Variable name: LSERVOPTS
Value of the variable: -l log-file-name
For log-file-name, a filename with the full path must be entered.
Then the SENTINEL service is restarted.
All license server requests will be logged.
Information in the LOG file
Among other things, the following information is written to the log file:
Which Windows user in which Windows client have each license used and when it was returned .
Note: sometimes two entries appear for a license. CADISON test if a license is available, and then this will be first debited. The inquiries and debiting of such things happening requests within the same second.
Current LOG file can be readed for further analysis in other programs.
Evaluation of the log file:
For the evaluation of the log file, the tool " lsusage.exe " can be used.
With the following command in the DOS window analysis can be performed in the same window :
Lsusage - l log -file-name
The output in the DOS window is known to be not very clear. Therefore, the redirection of the output to a text file:
Lsusage - l log -file-name > text - file.txt
Here will be listed the following information:
• Rejected license requests
• Approved requests for licenses
• All license requests
• Average time of licence use
